Israeli Surplus Homefront Command Search & Rescue Helmet
Israeli Firefighter Light Helmet
Israeli Military Surplus US M1 Helmets
Israeli military surplus US M1 helmets with steel outer and plastic inner cover with 3 point chinstrap. The steel has normal signs of age and use with a WW2 era front seam. These helmets were used by the Israel Defense Forces from 1948 when Israel was reestablished, but mainly from the early 1950's to after the 1973 Yom Kippur war and were known in Israel as Kaplad, an abbreviation of steel helmet (Kasdat Plada), later to be replaced by kevlar helmets. The main helmets used by the IDF during 1948 were the British M1917 Brodie steel helmets, which were used to mainly shield the head from upper shrapnel. The M1 protected the head from the sides and neck, offering a better protection for the more modern battlefield that was not focused on trench warfare. In 1976 the IDF started using to Orlite helmet. These helmets have straps made by Rabintex and some seem to be original WW2.
