A beautiful set of two bronze plaques commemorating the battle of Mulhouse also called the Battle of Alsace, which began on 7 August 1914 and was the opening attack of the First World War by the French Army against Germany.  The Germans counter attacked days later making the French leave the city on the 11th of August.  The plaques feature A French officer kissing an Alsatian young woman in traditional dress who throws herself in his arms.   In the background the French infantry are charging and on the right a fallen panel inscribed with DEUTSCHES REICH.  The plaques are signed on the left: Joe Descomps SCR, A Chambin Editeur, and on the right Georges Scott, 8 Aout (August) 1914. One of the plaques is on a large wooden frame and the other plaque is on a wooden desk stationary pad with 1914-1918 shown on the bottom. Genuine WW2 Theatre knife, possibly British with a bowie type blade and tang wrapped with a cord and glued with a kind of resin.  Theatre knives are a type of trench art fighting knives made for battle from parts of artillery shrapnel, downed plane parts, exploded armored vehicles and what ever metal and steel can be found around the battle field. This theatre knife is probably from World War 2, most likely British due to the motto on the blade "Your Courage Will Bring Us Victory".  The tip of the pommel has a crown and the initials GP. The scabbard is made of canvas and looks like it was used in Israel due to the Hebrew name written behind it which is barely readable רון כרמי (Ron Carmi). A rare and unique piece of history featuring a commemorative plaque presented to Marshall Ferdinand Foch, the Supreme Allied Commander during the First World War, and Georges Clemenceau, Prime Minister and Minister of War during the war.  The plaque shows all of the characteristics of World War One such as the trench warfare, airplanes and zeppelins first used in battle, firearms, helmets and digging tools.  In the center is a French soldier holding a flag that is being kissed by a woman, maybe representing the gratefulness of the French nation to its brave fighters. The plaque was presented as part of the Law of November 17th 1918, that was established to pay national tribute to the armies and their leaders who participated in World War One, the war to end all wars. The writing in the center translates to:

Or best offer November 4th is celebrated and commemorated in Italy as the end of World War 1, the day of Armistice at Villa Giusti.  Italy lost in WW1 over 500,000 soldiers.  This rare bronze plaque was sculpted by one of Milan's most famous sculptures in the early to mid 20th century: Egidio Boninsegna.  The memorial plaque depicts an angel carrying to a tomb a half-draped male soldier accompanies by his mourning wife and two children bidding him a final farewell and another man holding the ends of the drape.  Both the angel and the fallen soldier show deep, hollowed-out eyes, indicating the suffering and grief caused by the war. The angel is sitting on a slab with the writing Ignoto Militi, the unknown soldier.  In the background is a great memorial tomb complete with fluted columns and another frieze of mourning figures.  The artist Egidio Boninsegna is best known for the creation of numerous tombs for the Monumental Cemetery and the Musocco Cemetery in Milan. He also sculpted the monument dedicated to the Milanese painter Filippo Carcano in 1915. This November 4th Italian memorial cast bronze plaque is rare in this excellent condition.  It is fastened to a heavy wooden frame. This is a rare British 1822 pattern sword from the short reign of King George IV (1820-1830) as can be seen in the royal emblem on the guard.  It is made with the distinctive Gothic hilt with fold down guard and a grip of fishskin wrapped with brass twisted wire.  These swords tend to be more delicate than other models with the folding down guard usually broken or missing.  The maker, Salter was the main sword manufacturer of that time, the blade etched with King George the Forth's emblem or crest.  This is one of the earliest pattern 1822 swords. This British royal infantry officer’s sword pattern 1822 from the reign of King George IV is in overall good condition with a slightly stained blade and in tact leather scabbard. An antique Indian Nepalese Gurkha Kukri knife made with intricate metalwork of decorative beads and white metal (maybe silver) with a beautiful design of two angels, flowers and other shapes on the leather scabbard covered with red velvet.  The handle is made of yak or ox bone and is decorated as well.  metal filigree and bead decorated leather scabbards dating from the 19th century. The knives have quality hand forged single edge very sharp steel curved blades mounted with ox bone handles and accompanied with two smaller similar handled sharpening knives.  The scabbard shows very well the hand stitching and has two straps that would have connected this Gurkha kukri knife to a belt. The blade is in excellent condition and is marked: "Tempered Steel/Made In India" It is probably made in the late 19th century to early 20th century. The Dahlgren bowie knife bayonet is a Civil War era Union US Navy bayonet designed by Admiral John Dahlgren for use with the Plymouth/Whitneyville Model M1861 Rifle, and made by the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee Massachusetts.  The Dahlgren Bowie bayonet's new design's intention was to replace the then-standard sword length bayonet with a more maneuverable bayonet for Navy purposes such as close quarters combat in ships, boarding actions, shore landings, and others and for use as either a traditional bayonet or a hand held edged weapon bulky enough to defend against swords and the heavy rifles used at the time. This Dahlgren Navy bowie bayonet is one of only 1800 produced between 1861-1864, and this item is marked as produced in 1862. Comes with an unoriginal scabbard. Markings: On ricasso: Side 1: USN D.R 1862. "D.R" initials are of the military inspector at the Ames plant, Daniel Reynolds. Maine Memorial Brass Plaque commemorates the explosion and sinking of the ship in Havana harbor, Cuba, at 9:40 on the evening of February 15, 1898 causing the deaths of 250 out of 355 sailors on board.  It is this incident that triggered the Spanish-American war that spread from the Caribbean to the Philippines ending up in American dominance over those regions. USS Maine memorial brass plaque features the following writing and markings: "In Memoriam / U.S.S.
