The Motherland Calls or in literal translation from Russian: Homeland-Mother Is Calling! is a statue of a woman stepping forward with a raised sword representing the Soviet or Russian Motherland calling on its sons and daughters to repulse the enemy and return to the attack.  This Soviet era sculpture which started construction in May 1959 and completed on 15 October 1967 is the compositional center of the monument-ensemble “Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad” on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia.  It was designed by sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich and structural engineer Nikolai Nikitin, and declared the tallest statue in the world in 1967 when complete.  At 85 m (279 ft), it is the tallest statue in Europe, the tallest outside of Asia and the tallest statue (excluding pedestals) of a woman in the world.

This Motherland Calls sculpture by Yevgeny Vuchetich is a beautiful representation of Soviet art with an art nuevo twist.

The Bronco Buster by Frederic Remington original bronze sculpture was made in the summer of 1895 and remained the most popular sculpture made by this artist.  Frederic Remington (1861-1909) was a sculpture, illustrator and painter that specialized in portraying the American Old West depicting cowboys, settlers, native American tribes, soldiers and wildlife in mainly action scenes.  The bronze sculpture of the Bronco Buster was his first three dimensional work of art portraying a rugged Western frontier cowboy fighting to stay on a wild bronco that wants to get him off, with a stirrup swinging free, a short whip in one hand and a fistful of the horse's mane and reins in the other. The Knight of Verona is a gilded bronze sculpture of "Cangrande I della Scalla", an Italian nobleman, belonging to the della Scala family which ruled Verona from 1308 until 1387.  Della Scalla was an acclaimed warrior and autocrat becoming sole ruler of Verona in 1311 to his death in 1329.  The Knight of Verona statue features Cangrande with his helmet, armor and drawn sword on his horse which is draped in cloth on a marble base.  The sculpture was made by Hans Muller of Austria (1873-1937) and signed, famous for his bronze sculptures of famous individuals as well as everyday life.  The original statue is currently at the Castelvecchio castle, in Verona, Italy. Or best offer November 4th is celebrated and commemorated in Italy as the end of World War 1, the day of Armistice at Villa Giusti.  Italy lost in WW1 over 500,000 soldiers.  This rare bronze plaque was sculpted by one of Milan's most famous sculptures in the early to mid 20th century: Egidio Boninsegna.  The memorial plaque depicts an angel carrying to a tomb a half-draped male soldier accompanies by his mourning wife and two children bidding him a final farewell and another man holding the ends of the drape.  Both the angel and the fallen soldier show deep, hollowed-out eyes, indicating the suffering and grief caused by the war. The angel is sitting on a slab with the writing Ignoto Militi, the unknown soldier.  In the background is a great memorial tomb complete with fluted columns and another frieze of mourning figures.  The artist Egidio Boninsegna is best known for the creation of numerous tombs for the Monumental Cemetery and the Musocco Cemetery in Milan. He also sculpted the monument dedicated to the Milanese painter Filippo Carcano in 1915. This November 4th Italian memorial cast bronze plaque is rare in this excellent condition.  It is fastened to a heavy wooden frame.
