Native American Warrior Bronze Bust

A native American warrior bronze bust sculpture of what might be a member of the Apache tribe who live in the South Western part of the United States.  The Apache people were known as fierce warriors and strategists ever since they first encountered the White man in the 1600 whether fighting the Spanish and later Mexican soldiers or later during the American-Indian wars fighting the US Army.  This bronze bust of a Native American is of an elderly warrior who by looking at his expression and deep facial lines looks like a battle-worn fighter.

No artist mark on this bronze bust statue.

The Dahlgren bowie knife bayonet is a Civil War era Union US Navy bayonet designed by Admiral John Dahlgren for use with the Plymouth/Whitneyville Model M1861 Rifle, and made by the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee Massachusetts.  The Dahlgren Bowie bayonet's new design's intention was to replace the then-standard sword length bayonet with a more maneuverable bayonet for Navy purposes such as close quarters combat in ships, boarding actions, shore landings, and others and for use as either a traditional bayonet or a hand held edged weapon bulky enough to defend against swords and the heavy rifles used at the time. This Dahlgren Navy bowie bayonet is one of only 1800 produced between 1861-1864, and this item is marked as produced in 1862. Comes with an unoriginal scabbard. Markings: On ricasso: Side 1: USN D.R 1862. "D.R" initials are of the military inspector at the Ames plant, Daniel Reynolds. US Civil War Model 1840 Light Artillery Saber By Ames

This model 1840 light artillery sabre was manufactured by US contract by Ames Manufacturing Co. of Chicopee, Massachusetts and in 1863 5,300 of these sabers were manufactured. This sword is marked "A.D.K. on ricasso, which are the initials of the inspector A.D. King.  The grip is covered with leather and wound with brass wire.  The scabbard is metal and since identified as the type 2 it has a ring around the mouth of the scabbard, the type 1 doesn't.  Unlike the Model 1840 heavy cavalry saber the this artillery model 1840 has no basket guard.  The American model 1840 light artillery sabre was designed after the French model 1829 mounted artillery sabre.

This beautiful gun grade metal sculpture of Joan of Arc in an art nouveau style shows in great detail her armor and chain of armor suit beneath and her beautiful face expression.  She is wearing a golden laurel, holding a sword in her right hand and spear in her left.  At the base her helmet and crossbow can be seen. Beautiful Pompeian Bronze Company Bookends of the "The Sculptor" from 1920's in art deco/nouveau style.  These bookends were made by the Pompeian Bronze Company of Brooklyn, NY during the 1920's.  They copyrighted this set as named "The Sculptor" in 1921.  Each bookend features an ancient Greek style nude figure wearing the traditional cloth and holding a mallet in his right hand. These bookends are made probably of spelter and are in very good condition considering that they are now 100 years old. The Knight of Verona is a gilded bronze sculpture of "Cangrande I della Scalla", an Italian nobleman, belonging to the della Scala family which ruled Verona from 1308 until 1387.  Della Scalla was an acclaimed warrior and autocrat becoming sole ruler of Verona in 1311 to his death in 1329.  The Knight of Verona statue features Cangrande with his helmet, armor and drawn sword on his horse which is draped in cloth on a marble base.  The sculpture was made by Hans Muller of Austria (1873-1937) and signed, famous for his bronze sculptures of famous individuals as well as everyday life.  The original statue is currently at the Castelvecchio castle, in Verona, Italy.
