Authentic Moro Kris Sword

$877.50

An authentic Moro Kris short sword from the Southern Philippines.  The Moro Kris is a rugged fighting blade that was mostly used in the Mindanao area of the Philippines.  The hilt, scabbard and blade are decorated with copper or brass decorations and the blade features a serpent or dragon like design.   The Moro people or actually Bangsamoro people, refers to the 13 Islamized ethnolinguistic groups of Mindanao, Sulu, and Palawan regoins.  The Moro fought against the Spanish invaders in the early 1500’s using these short swords but the design of the blade itself is actually from pre Islamic influence era.  The wavy blade symbolizes the Naga; a mythical serpentine dragon that was worshipped in the animistic days of Malay history.

The hilt is often decorated with intricate carvings and can feature symbols associated with the warrior culture of the region.

What is Moro kris sword?

Moro kris swords are traditional double-edged swords used by the Moros of the Philippines. The Moros are an ethnic group descended from the people of the former Sultanate of Sulu, which is now part of the Philippines. The kris sword is often referred to as a barong, and features a wavy blade with a handle that curves outwards in an unusual shape. The kris sword is often decorated with intricate designs and patterns and is believed to have magical powers.

What is the most known Filipino sword?

The most famous Filipino sword is the Kris, which is a distinctive, wavy-bladed dagger. It is an important part of Filipino culture and is believed to possess magical powers. .The Kris is believed to have been a sacred dagger of the ancient Tagalog people and is part of a weapon set designed for ritual combat. The Kris, in modern use, is a ritual implement used by Filipino spiritual practitioners such as priests and priestesses during rituals.
