African Azande Mambele sickle sword of the Democratic Republic of Congo.  These African sickle swords have a wide variety of forms and are found over a wide area north-east Congo, among the Bandia, Benge, Mongelima, Nzakara, Zande, Boa and Mangbetu tribes. There is no consensus as to which form can be associated (if at all) with a particular group. This variety is commonly called Azande.

Late 19th to early 20th century.

This katar has the characteristic V-shaped blade and H-shaped handles.  It is made of steel and silver on the scabbard which is usually hard to find.  It was made around the 1920's or a bit before. Maine Memorial Brass Plaque commemorates the explosion and sinking of the ship in Havana harbor, Cuba, at 9:40 on the evening of February 15, 1898 causing the deaths of 250 out of 355 sailors on board.  It is this incident that triggered the Spanish-American war that spread from the Caribbean to the Philippines ending up in American dominance over those regions. USS Maine memorial brass plaque features the following writing and markings: "In Memoriam / U.S.S. Maine / Destroyed in Havana Harbor / February 15th 1898 / This tablet is cast from metal recovered from the U.S.S. Maine." The lower right corner is stamped "© C. KECK Sc. / 1913 Cast By / Jno. Williams Inc. / N.Y." The bottom edge is stamped 1305. On the back top left corner: "Tablet No 1305 / Charles Keck, Sculptor / Cast By / Jno Williams Inc. / Bronze Foundry / New York / 1913."
